Announcing… A Very Bookish Christmas!

Okay, I said I had some exciting things coming up this month, and here is the first — announcing a new project that I’m a part of!

It’s called A Very Bookish Christmas, and it’s a collection of four Christmas-themed novellas to be released November 28th. But not just any novellas — these are unified by a delightful theme. Each book features a character who has a special love for a classic book and has elements of this book reflected in their life.

I was so excited when my friend Sarah Holman asked me to participate in this collection. And while it wasn’t easy completing the story in between caring for one baby, being pregnant with another, moving, and having gallbladder surgery, I did it, and I can’t wait to share it with you all come Thanksgiving!

My story is called Sylvie of Amber Apartments. Any guesses as to what book my main character loves? If you guessed Anne of Green Gables, you are correct! That book was always so special to me growing up, so it made sense to create a character — a little girl named Sylvie — who loves it as much as I did. The novella follows Sylvie each holiday season from her fifth to her twelfth year as she grows and matures and tries to be as much like Anne Shirley as she can — even though they don’t seem to have very much in common on the surface.

I mentioned that there are also three other stories in the collection — Sarah wrote one, called Molly and Anna, and the other two are Gingerbread Treasures by Rebekah Jones and Love, Jem by Kate Willis. The beautiful cover for the collection was designed by Jessica Greyson. I’ve known all of these girls for a long time and it has been such a joy to work with them on this project! And while I haven’t read any of their contributions yet, I can’t wait to!

Be on the lookout for the finished product in a few months — I know it will help get you into the Christmas spirit!
