It Felt Like a Star Trek Episode

Posted on by Grace

In the weeks since Firmament: Reversal Zone was released, I’ve been very happy to see how readers have been enjoying it thus far. Honestly, I think it’s my favorite of the four books that are currently out. And I’ve actually been sitting on the idea since before the Firmament series even began–the basic premise was part of my very first sci-fi enterprise, Journey to Eternity. Like most early attempts of mine, this story was not much good at all, but I loved the idea of the reversal and tucked it away for later. More than ten years later.

It’s Not Easy

Posted on by Grace

About half the time I’m driving–to work, to church, traveling, or just running errands–I like to listen to podcasts, lectures, sermons, audiobooks, etc. I like to feel I’m being productive, to not just drive but also to try to improve my mind. The other half of the time, I need to unwind and I like to play music. Usually Pandora over my bluetooth speaker. Which usually means one of three channels–Tenth Avenue North, my default Christian channel; Wicked, my default Broadway channel; or Owl City, my default alternative/pop channel.

I’ve listened to these three so much over the years that … Keep reading

Star Trek Fanfic — Once Upon a Time

Posted on by Grace

Since it’s been forever since I shared one of my fanfics with you, I take a moment to share another story from the academy days saga with you. Enjoy the absurdity!

Spock raised one … Keep reading

It’s been far too long since I shared one of my Star Trek fanfics, so while I work on my post about Neil Crater, I’m going to pull one out of the archives. Laugh and enjoy!

A Friendly Game

or

Hearts Have Been Broken

“Checkmate.”

Montgomery looked up to make sure he’d heard right. “What did you say, laddie?”

“Checkmate, I said checkmate.” The thin young Doctor McCoy looked irritated. “Don’t you know what checkmate means?”

“I do, but I’m beginning to think you don’t,” was Montgomery’s mild answer. James Kirk, who sat across from the … Keep reading

Star Trek Fanfic — A Conversation

Posted on by Grace

I wrote this fanfic a few years ago as an experiment in writing a story entirely in dialogue with no non-dialogue parts whatsoever. I’m fairly happy with how it turned out, and I hope you enjoy it!

A Conversation

or

Logical Purpose

“Hello.”

“Hello, Doctor.”

“How’s everything been?”

“Everything has been going quite well, thank you.”

“Doggone it, I’m trying to make conversation here. The least you could do is cooperate.”

“I apologize. I was not aware of your intentions, Doctor. If I may ask, to what shall I attribute your sudden and surprising interest in speaking with me?”

“Does … Keep reading
