If you’ve been wondering where this website has been, the answer is — complicated.

I’m a writer, not a technology guru (just in case you didn’t know). That means I make mistakes when it comes to websites and email lists and things of that nature. One such mistake was not having my domain for this website on the same service as the site’s host (and if that sounds like Greek to you, welcome to the club). This ended up meaning that when my domain name needed to be renewed, I was unable to renew it (still a little fuzzy on why exactly that happened). And that meant I lost my site address. Which resulted in it being snatched up by someone who wants to sell it back to me for $499.

I don’t have the budget for that, needless to say, but I get it. It’s capitalism. So I have made an offer. A significantly lower offer. Myself and the seller have gone back and forth approximately one hundred times, and their offer is not yet anywhere near what I’m able and/or willing to pay. But the domain is my name, and there’s nobody else out there with that name (I’ve checked!) so I’m not worried. I’ll get it back one day. But in the meantime, my ability to connect with readers and have all my information in one place was too valuable to sacrifice, so here I am at jgracetheauthor.com rather than jgracepennington.com.

It’s good to be back. And after this, the first thing I’m going to do is finish up my short reviews from books I read last year, because I love doing those! I also have lots and lots of news to share with all of you. And I’m working on getting my newsletter up and running again, in a more stable way this time. All kinds of excitingness. But that will all come later. In the meantime — it’s good to be back!
