I’m taking a brief break from my alphabet series to mention Katie Lynn Daniels‘ pet project this month, the Speculative Fiction Thing over at the HolyWorlds Blog. Every day a new post goes up about fantasy, science fiction, or historical fiction, written by various talented members of the HolyWorlds forum.
I myself am doing two posts this month, and one of them went up this week. What was it about? Fantasy Subgenres. I tend to dislike a lot of fantasy, so it’s a bit surprising that I offered to do this post, but Katie needed more posts, and I’d given … Keep readingPosted in Writing | Tagged fantasy, genres, guest posts, HolyWorlds, Katie Lynn Daniels | 4 Comments April 12, 2013
I’m a very big fan of detective and mystery stories. I always have been. From Encyclopedia Brown when I was seven, to Nancy Drew when I was twelve, from Sherlock Holmes in my teens, to Agatha Christie as an adult–I love a good whodunnit. I also enjoy mystery TV shows–Monk, Psych, Murder, She Wrote… if it’s clever and mysterious and more or less clean, I like it.
It wasn’t surprising that for my first “serious” works when I was a young teen I chose to write a mystery series–about twins, Annie and Bobby Tucker. They took on cases and solved … Keep readingPosted in Uncategorized, Writing | Tagged detective, genre, God, Katie Lynn Daniels, life, murder, mystery, sanctity of life | 21 Comments March 23, 2013
I was so pleased with all the entries I got in the review contest and giveaway I held over the past couple months! I’m very grateful for the interest shown, and the reviews written and posted, and I do wish I could give every single participant a book. It’s my dream to, someday, when I’m rich and famous, hold a contest where everyone who enters will indeed receive a book… but alas, that day has not yet come. Although perhaps with all of your reviews, I’m one step closer to that day!
In all seriousness, I am truly grateful for … Keep readingPosted in Giveaways | Tagged Aubrey Hansen, Finding the Core of Your Story, friends, interviews, Jordan Smith, Katie Lynn Daniels, links, Ophelia-Marie Flowers, Red Rain, Sixteen So In Love With You, Supervillain of the Day | 12 Comments January 31, 2013
If you’ve been sticking around this blog for awhile, you probably saw my review contest and giveaway a couple weeks back. Basically, if you are willing to review my books, I’ll send you copies. And if you get your reviews in by March 15th, you’re entered in a giveaway for four very wonderful prizes.
As an author, I’m privileged to have many talented authors as my friends. It’s so helpful to be able to go on this journey together–learn the ins and outs of self-publishing, encourage each other, and read each other’s books. Sometimes I think that is the best … Keep readingPosted in Giveaways, Reviews | Tagged Amazon, Aubrey Hansen, books, contests, Finding the Core of Your Story, friends, Jordan Smith, Katie Lynn Daniels, Ophelia-Marie Flowers, Red Rain, Sixteen So In Love With You, Supervillain of the Day | 14 Comments January 12, 2013
Greetings, dear readers! I know I haven’t posted too much lately, but I’ve been busy cooking up this idea and getting it all set up for you.
I have a job for you. Yes, you. If you’re willing to help me out, and have a bit of time, and are interested in free books, then you’re just the person I’ve been looking for.
What do I need? Well, when your marketing budget is rather on the nonexistent side, one of the biggest strategies to go for is word of mouth. But for word of mouth to work, you have to … Keep readingPosted in Giveaways, Reviews | Tagged Amazon, announcements, Aubrey Hansen, ebooks, free, friends, Jordan Smith, Katie Lynn Daniels, Ophelia-Marie Flowers, reviews | 62 Comments
