Can You Help Me?

typing

Greetings, dear readers! I know I haven’t posted too much lately, but I’ve been busy cooking up this idea and getting it all set up for you.

I have a job for you. Yes, you. If you’re willing to help me out, and have a bit of time, and are interested in free books, then you’re just the person I’ve been looking for.

What do I need? Well, when your marketing budget is rather on the nonexistent side, one of the biggest strategies to go for is word of mouth. But for word of mouth to work, you have to have, well, words. People have to be talking about your book. And sometimes, even if people read and enjoy it, they might not think to talk about it in the places it counts most.

One of the places it matters a lot is Amazon reviews. The more Amazon reviews a book has, the more likely it is to be viewed and bought. I know that when I go and look at a book on Amazon, I always scan the reviews to get the best idea I can of it before buying.

At the moment, however, both of my books have only a handful of reviews. So I had a brilliant idea.

This post is an open call for reviews of my books. Anyone interested in reviewing one or both of the books can email me, and I’ll send you a free ebook to review! In return, I expect you to review the book on its Amazon page and at least one other place. The other place is up to you… you can post your thoughts on Goodreads, a blog, Facebook, Google+… feel free to be creative!

I also realize that all of you have busy, full lives (I hope you do, anyway), and that fitting things into your schedule can sometimes be rather hard. So I have a little incentive for those who post their reviews by March 15th. They’ll be entered in a giveaway for some awesome books that are written by some very awesome people!

The prizes for the contest are:

Finding the Core of Your Story (Second Edition) by Jordan Smith

Red Rain by Aubrey Hansen

Sixteen, So In Love With You by Ophelia-Marie Flowers

Supervillain of the Day by Katie Lynn Daniels

The last I have not had the pleasure of reading quite yet, as it was just released, but I’ve read the author’s writing before and can vouch that it is magnificent! And the other three are all favorites of mine, and well worth owning.

So here’s how this works. If you’re interested in reviewing:

- Email me at theauthor [AT] jgracepennington [DOT] com, letting me know which book(s) you wish to review — Firmament: Radialloy and/or Never.

- Read and review your chosen book(s) by March 15th, 2013, 11:59 pm CST. Post your review on Amazon and at least one other site of your choice.

- You will be entered in the giveaway once for each book you review. Meaning two possible entries.

- Leave a comment on this post with links to your reviews by the deadline above, and tell me which of the prize(s) you are interested in winning. This is to avoid awarding you a book you don’t want, or already own.

Make sense? Good! Thank you for helping me out, and I look forward to seeing what you think of my books!

  1. Aaagh! A chance at another Red Rain for my library? How could I miss it!
Unfortunately, I don’t have an e-Reader, and am back at school already…

    • Grace says:

You don’t need an ereader, ’cause there’s a Kindle app for your computer and such. ;) I also do PDFs. The back to school part, sadly, I can’t solve… but if you want a computer format, shoot me an email. :) Thanks, David!

  2. Oooh! Me! Me me! :D I’d like to read and review Radialloy and possibly Never too, but I think I’ll only do one at a time, since I don’t want to sign myself up for something I can’t finish in time. So I shall start with Radialloy. :D *Skips off to email*

  3. Athena Grace says:

Ohhh I love this idea. Could i do both books? I am really fast reader.

  4. Annie Hawthorne says:

    *excited squeal*
Grand idea, Grace! I really want to do this but I have to check with my parents first. If I can I’ll be e-mailing you tomorrow, Lordwilling. :)

  5. Holly Marie says:

    Hello Grace!
This sounds like a splendid idea! I have an upcoming trip of a lengthy duration and I am stocking up on kindle books to save on space, so this would be ideal. I will be getting back March 13th so it will be cutting it close but I am confident I will be able to fit in the reviews. I will zip you off an email shortly!

  6. Leah E Good says:

Do my reviews count for the giveaway, even though I did them before you posted this? Pretty please? :)

  7. Lady Rwebhu says:

    * sits forlornly looking at post *

I don’t have an amazon account. * buries face in hands *

  8. This sounds fun… I’ll do it!

  9. Laura says:

I’ve posted both of my reviews. And let me tell you, Grace, both of those books hooked me. Without flattery or anything I can say that you are one of my new favorite authors and I would gladly have paid money for those books :D

(I think that one is right… I clicked Permalink underneath the review and it took me to that page, so I’m hoping it works :) )

Thanks so much for the opprotunity! I loved reading the book :D
The books I’d be interested in are Finding the Core of Your Story, Red Rain, and Supervillain of the Day. Thanks again!

    • Grace says:

Thank you so much, Adrienne! I enjoyed reading your review, and I am glad you liked the book! I’ll enter you in those giveaways. :) Thank you again! :D

  14. Annie Hawthorne says:

    I reviewed ‘Radialloy’ on Google+, Grace! :D

I couldn’t figure out how to copy and paste links with the phone though. I hope that’s okay? Since you’re in my circles already?

  15. I reviewed Radialloy on my blog awhile back and just copied it to Amazon to help ya out there. Does that count for the giveaway? If it does, I’m interested in Finding the Core of Your Story. :)

  16. Lady Katharina says:

I reviewed “Firmament: Radialloy” and here are the links:

    http://www.amazon.com/review/R1DMA87YR6VGP9

    http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/416036264

As for which prize. I don’t have a preference.

  17. I’ve just posted my review of Never:

    http://www.amazon.com/review/R2DARNE2694ADA
    http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/442236583

My pick of the prizes would by Finding the Core of Your Story.

  18. My blog post for this Saturday (which will appear at this URL Saturday morning), a “review of ‘recent’ books” spends about 530 of its 4200 or so words reviewing Firmament: Radialloy. I also adapted that into this Amazon review.

My pick of your prizes would be Finding the Core of your Story.

  19. Calista Beth says:

I got the reviews up on Amazon today. Looks like it’ll be a day or two before they’re officially up or something so I couldn’t get the links… and methinks you saw the reviews on my blog. ;) Do I still have to give you links to them? XD

    ~ Milly/Calista

  20. Hannah says:

I reviewed Firmament: Radialloy on Amazon! I also did a shout-out on Twitter, giving the link to the review on Amazon (and to your amazing website, of course!).

    https://twitter.com/gloryandgrace

    http://www.amazon.com/review/R112GX9862O5MX

I would love to win Ophelia-Marie Flowers’ book of poetry!

Thanks for hosting this giveaway, Grace! What a brilliant idea! :-)

  21. Here’s a link to my review on my blog: http://www.whispersofwindandsong.blogspot.com/2013/03/book-review-never.html

I was going to put some up on Amazon as well, but I haven’t had the time, and I probably won’t get the time. If I do, I’ll come back.

  22. Here are my reviews! I devoured the books and wrote the reviews ages ago, and then forgot to post them and comment until two days before the deadline. :P

    Anyway!

    Never review on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/505407785

    Radialloy review on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/505407770

I couldn’t find the links to the exact reviews on Amazon, but on the page with all my reviews they are right there. http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A385QBG11DOREU/ref=cm_cr_pr_auth_rev?ie=UTF8&sort_by=MostRecentReview

Hopefully that works! If not, look at the product’s pages and they are there. :D

  23. Oh! And my prize choice is Supervillain of the Day, since I don’t have a print copy of that one.

  24. Jeremiah says:

*comes in at the last minute*

    Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/442391114
Blog: (again, slightly different, I think) http://www.another-otherworld.com/?p=648&preview=true

Did I do what I was supposed to? o.O Um…my preferred prize would be <Finding the Core of Your Story (second edition) (I only have an e-copy ;) )

  25. Are you still offering review copies? Because I loved Radialloy (and am planning to review it) and would be interested in reading and reviewing Never if you are.
